30 changes we want to see in the next Pokémon Scarlet & Violet update
Let’s start this with a big old one deny the responsibility: We are not game developers. We are not good at programming. We don’t really know why Pokémon Scarlet and Violet was broken and buggy on release. Also, we certainly don’t just want to join the hate directed at Game Freak right now, even though they may be doing well with the record. 10 million copies of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have been sold In a few days.
But while we can’t give a specific reason why the game crashed or a solution to the problem, we do have a few ideas and hopes for the future of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet — so we’ve come to the rescue. make a list of 30 changes, fixes, and additions that we’re happy to see in an update.
Here we go…
The changes we want to see in the next Pokémon update
software bug fix
Overall stability improvement
If there’s one thing we want Game Freak to tackle first, it’s game stability. For now, figuring out if the game will crash is still a puzzle — and it’s not ideal! People need to know that their game won’t be any less than them.
Better texture
With stable fixes, the game should be playable, but it’s still not pretty in many places. The main obvious problem with Scarlet and Violet’s open world is that the textures are either dull as hell (looking at you, sandy areas) or very repetitive, as with Paldea’s cliffs and mountains.
A little variety and contrast in these areas wouldn’t be confusing and would make the world look so much better, instead of the freakish brown giant walls scattered around where it is now.
UI consistency
We’re having a nightmare time figuring out which buttons do what in this game, because it’s pretty contradictory. Sometimes it’s Y, sometimes it’s B. Sometimes it’s both. It looks like the + button will open the menu, but instead the X button opens the menu and + summons your ride. Pokédex is mapped to both minus node and the X button in the Y menu, and it looks like it will be in the X menu instead. It just feels messy and chaotic.
Faster loading times
This affects stores and Boxes the most. It takes a while to load all the hats, gloves, and Pokémon every times! Surely there is a fix for this? It has never been an issue in previous Pokémon games.
multiplayer bug fix
A large part of the bugs people are finding are related to multiplayer. It can be expected – it’s a big feature with a lot of edge cases that are hard to plan, especially in the reduced time frame that Pokémon games have these days. However, at best, many players feel very… unrefined at best and at worst unfinished.
Don’t get us wrong — it’s really fun, and being able to complete story missions with friends around is incredible, as well as seeing pop-up notifications telling you what they’re up to In the world. Other than that, the collaborative bread was the most fun we’ve had in a while. But connectivity issues, animation errors, and the fact that your friends can’t really Help You with the story missions make it a bit disappointing.
character customization
More skin tones
Pokémon ScarVi now offers… four skin tones. Two very light (and almost indistinguishable), one olive and one darker, but that’s really not much in the way of choice for a large part of the population. Surely skin tone is one of the easier character customization options to add? Especially considering the large number of types of eyelashes there are. Who even really knows their eyelash type?
More non-gender options
It’s 2022, and the gender-neutral future that Game Freak dreams of is… no one is allowed to wear skirts. Serious? Why? Give us the dress back, let everyone wear it. Forcing people to wear long pants and shorts is not progress!
red hair
We understand that natural red hair is probably not common in Game Freak’s home country of Japan, but if ten million people bought Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, statistically, 100,000 of those players have natural red hair. . Not red like ketchup, but red like, you know, ginger hair. It would be great if there was a hair option for them!
No more uniforms
We are feeling very Pink Floyd’s Another brick in the wall about Scarlet and Violet’s choices forcing us to wear our uniform 24/7. It nullifies so many other fashion choices – what’s the point of wearing blue if it conflicts horribly with orange?
At least give us a chance to have what our school calls “personal clothes day” where you can wear whatever you like, because after all, most Pokémon stories ScarVi doesn’t even. the set in schools!
motorbike accessories
We love Koraidon, and Miraidon is the vehicle of choice for our Pokémon trainer Paldean, so why not let us dress them up a bit? Bike horn! Horse saddle! Tiny hats! It’s going to help us differentiate ourselves from other coaches when it comes to the partnership, since most of us run around on bikes anyway.
Another choice
Skip the combat animation
Being able to go into the settings and turn on the “skip combat animations” option is a must for a game full of long, long battles and battles that you want to end as soon as possible. the better. It’s been in the series for a long time, which only makes its absence from PSV all the more conspicuous!
camera sensitivity
This is a pretty basic requirement and most games these days include it even in the sparse options menu, but can we change the camera sensitivity? it’s present Street too slow and Arceus knew the game had enough problems with slowness already.
Turn off EXP sharing
Some of us like being able to split the experience in six ways, but others – who are really good at the competitive part of Pokémon – want more control over leveling up their ‘mons’. Not giving us the option seems like an odd choice for Game Freak, but we could see the feature eventually return in a future update, especially since This is just a relatively simple conversion.
More selfie poses
We love the selfie poses we’ve had so far, but we won’t say no to a few more. Consider what people take selfies for—mostly to show off things or express a reaction to something in the game—and add other poses based on that. Here are some suggestions:
Pokémon selfies
We also want to take pictures with our Pokémon! Perhaps take a look at Disney’s Dreamlight Valley book, here – DDV will let nearby characters come and pose if they see you taking a selfie. In Pokémon ScarVi, our Pokémon often runs around us in a circle like high-street toddlers. Some of them will even intentionally move out of the way when we try to photograph them, like a grumpy cat. Can’t we just bribe them with Pokétreats or something?
We’re only halfway through our list, so keep turning to page two for more things we’d love to see added to the game…
