25 More Games That Are Better On Switch OLED
It’s been a year since brand new Nintendo Switch hardware came out with the first ‘2D’ Metroid game in nearly two decades. Metroid Dreadwith the mysterious dark surroundings of the planet ZDR and Samus’ super-bright guns, is the perfect showcase for the Switch OLED’s specific improvements over the base console and the Switch Lite, showing off a brief demonstration. Take advantage of the new display’s improved contrast and brighter colors than the original IPS panel.
In the week after launch, we published one article and the accompanying video highlights the 25 Switch games (actually several others) that we think we’ve seen Specifically adorable on high-end Nintendo products. Apparently, there is an argument that all Switching games will look better on OLED, but we wanted to focus on the experience, which we felt was greatly enhanced by the extra screen real estate and richer details.
In the year since, there have been a ton of new releases that actually hit the Switch OLED (as well as some that dropped in price last time – sorry. Hollow Knight!), so we’re back with another 25 (+) games that we think are best on newer hardware.
Does this mean that the regular Switch turns the games listed below into unplayable eyesores? Of course not, they all sing on your Common Switch or Garden Switch – and your experience when attached to your TV will be identical. You mean this is not on the first list?! Look, we’re fixing that heartbreaking bug right now, okay?
Sharp lines and deep, dark color palette of one of Switch’s flagship products Metroidvanias making it the perfect candidate for playback on the Switch OLED. Those deep purples and silky blacks look both richer and softer than ever, with bright elements striking against their background beautifully. Hollow Knight has always been a look and in handheld mode here it is at its absolute best.

The striking art style of this excellent Switch port is sure to benefit from a larger, brighter screen, as well as any text-heavy screen in this hybrid real-time strategy/narrative adventure. Vanillaware. Anything that improves the visuals of your visual novels (or parts of visual novels, in this case) are worth investigating if you play a lot of them, and although we haven’t filled them out yet this list with many excellent VNs on Switchyou should understand that fans in general will appreciate the improved experience the Switch OLED offers for that particular genre, both through the beautiful rendering of character art and increase text size to make it easier to see.

For a game that revolves around coloring into a black and white world, you really want the best canvas you can get your hands on. OLED’s brighter whites and deeper blacks provide that for indie games Kaleplus the larger screen means you can be more precise when launching the world with your hot dog finger.

Mention Cowabunga Collectionbut if we will choose a turtle game for this list it would have to be Dedication Games and Dotemu Games Shredder’s Revenge. The perfect combination of classic gameplay with popping pixel art, pizza-loving Testudines rarely look this good.

This is one of the the most beautiful games on Switch, with a lovely 60 fps and a permanent maximum pixel count. From developer Shin’en (Fast RMX), The Touryst It’s an absolute treat for the eyes wherever you play, but Switch OLED gives you a bigger screen to appreciate the colorful voxel art style and light island-based backdrop.

When you consider the classic versions of these games (2007 and 2011 respectively), Portal and Gate 2 still looks remarkable. Having said that, the limited scope of their small, contained spaces – especially in the first game – meant Valve could have paid more attention to those filthy grates in all the rooms. that clinical trial, but that doesn’t detract from all its loveliness. The looks, especially on the OLED display, accentuate the contrast between the white backplate and the chrome and rusty ironwork hidden beneath it. The RTX mods for PC games will make them look more adorable, but the Switch versions still shine.

As you’ve probably noticed, the games on this list and the one before it tend to use environments that combine super bright areas with lights and lasers against dark, gray games – stuff. for which the high contrast, per-pixel illumination of an OLED display is particularly suited. Aliens: Isolation might be welcome in a few hours, but it’s probably the best Alien game ever made, and the Switch port looks majestic.

More shadows, more dull, more neon lights and shiny surfaces. It’s easy to see how an OLED display will bring Rapture to life, but it’s worth mentioning how sky-based Columbia is. BioShock Infinite also benefit from a larger, brighter Switch display.

This game might have caught you off guard, but it’s one of this writer’s very favorite Switch games, and the OLED gives it an extra 10%. A chiptune ammo bonanza we will continue to recommend Just Shapes & Beats every opportunity we get; if you’re a lover of NES and EDM-era audio, it really should be on your Switch.
Developer Berzerk Studio’s Infernaxa bloody and pretty good 8-bit return that also looks pretty spike on the high-end Switch.

Blimey, this is a little stressful, isn’t it? …
Look, we like ARM, Okay? And if we’re away from home and want to turn on the Joy-Con for some outdoor fishing gear, the Switch OLED is easily the best, most discerning way to do it. More screens are always a good thing, even if you ignore the manual motion control and being one of the Switch’s most colorful games (which is saying something), the feel Specifically good on SwOLED.
