Local specifications of the Peugeot 408 have been leaked ahead of the launch of the fastback crossover scheduled to launch in May. The information comes from a brochure posted in paultan.org Car/car discussion group on Mustaqim Mustafa’s Facebook. As always with details gleaned from unofficial sources, take it with a grain of salt until we get the full picture on launch day.

It was previously reported that 408 will be a locally assembled (CKD) vehicle with three variants. There is currently no word on pricing, but for the target audience of those considering buying a Honda Civic or Accord, it is speculated to be between RM140k and RM150k.

According to promotional materials, the three variants include the basic Premium version, the mid-range Premium version and the top-end GT version. All three will share the same 1.6-liter turbocharged PureTech engine, with 218 horsepower (215 horsepower or 160 kW) at 5,500 rpm and 300 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. This drives the front wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

As for standard equipment, the Allure is equipped with LED headlights with automatic high beams, LED taillights, automatic wipers and 18-inch Granite Gray alloy wheels. Inside, the base option comes with partial leather upholstery, a power driver’s seat, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen, as well as a six-speaker sound system.

Regarding safety and driver assistance features, the 408 Allure version is equipped with six airbags, a reversing camera, rear parking sensors, traffic sign recognition with speed limit information, and parking assist. lanes, cruise control (presumably adaptive) and automatic emergency braking.

The Premium builds on the Allure by equipping 18-inch black Granite wheels, black Nappa leather upholstery, power driver’s seat memory function, advanced lane-keeping assist, lane-change assist, and power monitoring. blind spot monitoring and reverse warning (perhaps rear cross-traffic warning).

The GT’s equipment list goes even further with 20-inch Monolithe Black wheels, matrix LED headlights, Naboo Blue Nappa leather seats, massage function for the driver’s seat, ‘3D Quartz Display’ instrument cluster. 10-inch, Focal sound system, 360-degree camera and 10-inch infotainment touchscreen with fully customizable touch panel attached for quick access to certain functions.

The 408 runs on Stellantis’ EMP2 platform and is 4,687 mm long, 1,850 mm wide, 1,510 mm tall and has a stretched wheelbase of 2,787 mm. For context, that’s about the same size as a Civic at 4,678 mm long, 1,802 mm wide, 1,415 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,735 mm.
