Jeep’s first electric vehicle for North America may have been teased for several years, but now it’s been revealed in production form — and with a fall 2024 arrival date, it’s getting closer.
The Wagoneer S is offered only as a battery electric model, with a combined output of 600 horsepower and 617 pound-feet of torque and a 0-60 mph time of 3.4 seconds. It offers a multi-mode traction management system, with Auto, Sport, Eco, Snow and Sand modes. Jeep says the EPA range will be up to 300 miles but it’s not official yet.
Built on Stellantis’ STLA Large platform, Wagoneer S uses new modular electric drive modules that combine the engine, transmission and power electronics into a single compact unit. Although the company has not confirmed a date, it has been suggested that a range-extended version of the Wagoneer S is in the works, borrowing some know-how from the company. As Jeep puts it, it has transformed the traditional seven-slot grille’s role from breathing to seeing, with line-of-sight lighting and a contoured hood for aerodynamics. The Wagoneer S’s interior packaging looks like a mixed bag. The Wagoneer S is about the same size as a Grand Cherokee or Toyota Highlander on the outside, measuring about 192 inches long and riding on a 113.0-inch wheelbase. While other design themes are certainly on the way, the Launch Edition still comes with 20-inch gloss black wheels and gloss black and neutral gray exterior details. There’s no exterior chrome, and Jeep has ditched the piano black trim inside, replacing it with a new cross-patterned metallic finish and ceramic-coated aluminum trim, according to the director. design director Ralph Gilles, “can be contrasted with wood”. The Wagoneer will receive regular over-the-air updates and Jeep says future features on automated driving, performance, etc. could be rolled out to the vehicles.
However, that is set to change. When viewed up close, one of the striking aspects of the Wagoneer S is that the roof is not shortened and the legroom is not pushed out like in some electric vehicles. That’s because Jeep plans to put the engine under the hood. As one official bluntly put it, there are no models with range-extended powertrains. Not yet.

With the included front passenger screen, the Wagoneer S boasts a total screen space of 45 inches. The gauge cluster itself, one of those screen spaces, has a layout that has been revised and rearranged for simplicity—a “detox” according to Gilles.
The infotainment system itself is a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and includes wireless device charging. The Launch Edition also includes 1,200-watt McIntosh audio with 19 speakers and a 12-inch subwoofer.
So far, Jeep has only detailed the Wagoneer S Launch Edition. That will make its debut in fall 2024 with a price tag of $71,995 including destination. Other versions of the Wagoneer S will arrive for the 2025 model year and provide a lower-priced entry point to the lineup as well as perhaps some space to top the lineup with luxury features more or focus on the terrain.

When Jeep revealed the Wagoneer S, it included a preview of what it might look like. The Wagoneer S Trailhawk Concept, as Jeep puts it, “tells the story of an SUV designed to drive and thrive on dusty trails and rocky terrain.” Compared to the Wagoneer S, the Trailhawk concept has a higher ride and includes a Rock mode, which also includes a heavy-duty tow hitch, 31.5-inch off-road tires and an electronic rear locker.
The heated and ventilated seats are upholstered in Mantis Green perforated composite material, while the dashboard gets a “unique meteorite-inspired genuine stone cover.” Also of note is the octagonal steering wheel with tactical-inspired grips at the 9 and 3 o’clock positions.

Jeep will also take its electric vehicles into more difficult off-road territory. Wagoneer S will be joined by Recon, a full version Wrangler’s electric “brother”., next year and then in 2026, Jeep plans to introduce a new “electrified” midsize model that could replace the Cherokee. It says that by the end of 2025, it will offer “multi-energy options” across its entire product line.
