Soft three lines intersect is increasing in number – Ford Explorer Timberline, Honda Pilot TrailSport – and now you can add 2023 Nissan Pathfinder Rock Creek, premieres at New York Auto Showon the list.
The Rock Creek is a special trim with some key modifications to make it a little better off-road, but don’t think this turns the SUV into a world-breaker. Modifications that have had the biggest impact on Rock Creek include off-road adjustable suspension with 5/8-inch lift and off-road tires wrapped in off-road wheels with a grain-locked look. Nissan doesn’t quote any updated clearance numbers, but we could see the air dam still ahead, so don’t expect any big numbers.
In addition to those mods, Nissan gives Rock Creek its own front end design with a unique grille and three-hole top cutout. It looks a bit more aggressive than the norm Pathfinder, giving Rock Creek a distinct character. You will notice the prominent Rock Creek badge on the elevator doors and also placed along the lower part of the front door. Nissan completes the exterior changes with a tubular roof rack that has a load capacity of 220 pounds.
Mechanically, Rock Creek can produce a more powerful smidgen Standard Pathfinder thanks to a revised fuel map allowing the engine to take advantage of premium fuel operation. This means the 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 can make 295 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque, an increase of 11 hp and torque. Max sled still at £6,000.
In terms of interior, Nissan provides Rock Creek with its own fabric / imitation leather seats and embossed Rock Creek logo on the seats. Contrasting orange stitching is seen throughout the interior, adorning the seats, steering wheel, dashboard, center console and door panels.
Nissan didn’t provide pricing, but said it will go on sale this summer alongside the rest of the Pathfinder 2023 lineup. You’ll have the choice of a six-tone mono and four-tone exterior when Rock Creek succeeds authorized dealer.
