2023 Mercedes AMG EQE electric sedan puts performance first


The 2023 Mercedes-AMG EQE sedan was announced on Tuesday as the second production all-electric model from Mercedes-Benz’s AMG performance division.

Like the standard EQE, the AMG model has a 90.6 kWh battery pack, with 10 modules and 360 receptacles. Mercedes estimated a range of up to 250 miles during the European WLTP test cycle, but EPA estimates are not yet available. AMG EQE is equipped with DC fast charging with a capacity of up to 170 kw.

An AMG-specific battery management system is fitted to the various driving modes, maintaining range at Comfort or emphasizing performance in Sport and Sport+ modes. The battery management system can also receive over-the-air updates.

AMG also tweaked the all-wheel drive system and adaptive air suspension, including using stiffer bearings to connect the rear axle to the bodywork to increase structural rigidity. The AMG EQE is also available with carbon-ceramic brakes, which work in conjunction with regenerative braking, which AMG claims allows for single-pedal driving.
