Introduced in 1992, the Ducati M900 – commonly known as the Ducati Monster – is the bike that many consider the beginning of the naked bike story.
Monster has had many iterations over the years, and Ducati says its latest addition, the Ducati Monster SP, is “designed to enhance the fun, with impeccable engineering for those who love Equestrian sport and style embellishment with Moto GP -sinrepired livery. “
The Monster SP shares the same 11-degree 937cc V-Twin engine as its steady rivals, the Monster and Monster Plus, with all three making 111 hp at 9,250 rpm and torque. 69 lb-ft at 6,500 rpm. The Monster SP also shares the throttle system, a six-speed transmission with quick shifters and a power/sliding clutch.

Also standard is the Ducati Power Launch, traction control, wheel control and cornering ABS. The power of the Monster SP has been upgraded to the front with Brembo Stylema monoblock 4-piston calipers on two semi-floating 320mm discs. Brakes at the rear come from 245 mm discs and 2-piston Brembo brake calipers. While existing Monster models have the Pirelli Diablo Rosso III, the Monster SP wheel is fitted in the Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV.
The Ducati Monster SP 2023 also adds Öhlins NIX30 forks and Termignoni-like silencers, steering damper, dynamic turn signals and a lithium-ion battery. The Monster SP’s curb weight is also at 410 lb, which is 4 pounds lighter than its steady rivals. The SP also offers a slightly taller seat option, with a high-seat accessory that raises the height to 33.5 inches, compared to the Monster and Monster Plus’s 32.3-inch head height.
The Ducati Monster SP 2023 starts at $15,595 and comes in the team’s official 2022 Desmosedici GP colorway.
