Available now in Malaysia and priced at RM14,998 as of 2022 Yamaha R15M Sport, with stock arriving at Hong Leong Yamaha authorized dealer showrooms in the first week of July. Prices do not include road tax, insurance or registration and are retail recommended.
Power for the R15M comes from a single-cylinder, SOHC, four-valve, liquid-cooled engine with variable valve timing (VVA). This small displacement sports motorcycle has 19.04 hp at 10,000 rpm and 14.7 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm from 155 cc.
A six-speed gearbox, assisted and equipped with a sliding clutch, with quickshifter as standard, and the chain’s final transmission sending power to the rear wheels. Suspension is done with an inverted, non-adjustable telescopic fork and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear.
As for braking, the R15M has single hydraulic discs front and rear, with dual-channel ABS as standard. Wheel sizes are 17 inches front and rear, with 100/80 front and 140/70 rear tyres.
Inside the cabin, a dual-mode monochrome LCD displays all the necessary information, along with an included feature trigger, as well as traction control in the driver assist suite. The lighting system is implemented with LED units throughout, including LED DRLs and headlights.
The weight of the R15M is said to be 140 kg with an 11-liter fuel tank, while the seat height stands at 815 mm. Two color options are available for the Yamaha R15M 2022 in Malaysia – Monster Energy Edition and Yamaha’s Signature M – while the standard model R15 V4 won’t make it to the local market.
