Fifteen years ago, Fiat released a product roadmap identifying 10 new models to arrive between 2007 and 2010 that will join seven existing models across Europe and the US. Today, Fiat’s home market Italy only sell five models, three of which are versions of the 500 and the United States has only one, 500X. As for that model, it sold 1,443 units here in 2020; Based on sales of 980 units as of the end of September this year, Fiat won’t even hit that horrendous milestone. The show still has to go on, though, so Fiat has had two subtle touches in store for the 2022 500X. Starting small, there will be an “Al-Fresco” retractable fabric canopy available for all trims. To make sure sprezzatura requires 500X driver, head can be in four colour, three of which are black, gray or red.
The final color, blue, is reserved for bigger news: A new Yacht Club Capri trim, a special edition model also available in blue. The model is named for the island of Capri, not far from Naples, Italy, and a lot of yachts stop there. Based on the penultimate Sport trim, it gets a Venetian blue paint job and sits on 18-inch wheels with Venetian blue accents on the outside, and receives the Yacht Club Capri badging. Inside, Ivory leather seats with blue piping face the wood-grain dashboard and satin-finished gear lever. In other markets, the same model is known as the Yachting Collector’s Edition and is also available on the two-door all-electric 500, the allocation is limited to 500 numbered units. Fiat makes no mention of limited production in the US
Each 500X is powered by a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 177 horsepower and 210 pound-feet of torque that sends power to all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission.
Fiat hasn’t officially announced the price yet, but based on information found on auto pricing websites, it looks like the automaker will likely raise the price by $680. Fiat says the four current versions it will carry are Pop, Trekking, Sport and Trekking Plus. According to the information we found, only three have been priced so far. Expected prices for 2022, including a hefty $1,495 destination fee, are:

- Hiking: $29,255
