Speaking of your global directory, why is it essential to create a directory of Black social media editors, writers, and stylists?
Thus, much of the Black community has been disproportionately affected by the emergence of COVID-19. I’ve seen a lot of my Black colleagues get fired and fired, and I wanted to create a resource for them. So right away, we asked ourselves, “How do these women know when jobs are looking for them?” So we started creating a platform where they can register, share if they are actively looking for a job, if they are willing to move their accommodation and experience. We want to give these women access to the job opportunities they’re looking for and get them paid a fair wage.
And on the other hand, the platform is a great resource for companies in the fashion or media sectors to find talented individuals. During the rise of protests in 2020, we see a lot of companies saying, “We’re not diverse because we don’t know where to find this talent. We can’t meet the Pledge. fifteen percent because there’s not enough qualified talent.” And we said, “Enough with the excuses. It’s time to diversify your company.” So we created a recruitment directory where we were able to have over 200 talented Black and Brown creative professionals recruited from different levels of experience. I cannot stress that if you are a company in the fashion or media industry and are looking for creative professionals you should apply as this is how you find talented individuals. And we’ve got a ton of incredible companies like LVMH, Who What Wear and PopSugar looking to take charge of representation and diversity in the workplace and use their directory to hire new talent. I am very proud of that.
