Owned and bred in Ketnucky by Albert Fried Jr. and trained by Richard Schosberg, Affirm Success is one of the most prolific children of a confirmed Triple Crown winner. He showed his mettle with his first jump from the gate, scoring the first three times in his career which began at the age of 3 in 1997 at Aqueduct race track and Belmont Park.
The following year, gelding bay won its first ranking bet, Forego Handicap (G2) at Racecourse Saratogaoffers a series of winning bets on both ground and grass, among them Vosburgh (G1), Cigar (G1), and Small Handicap (G3T) turns.
In 2002, at the age of 8, Aff claimed Success became the oldest horse to win the Aqueduct Skater Handicap, a victory he followed a few weeks later with a spectacular win at the Carter Handicap. (G1).
