One of the most remarkable things about Star Valley How it differs now from when it first launched and that depends on developer ConcernedApe continuing to add features and content in free updates. We’re currently upgrading to 1.5, which adds a whole new region and some new characters among lots of other new content, but for those who haven’t played in a while, it can be a bit overwhelming.

We’ve rounded up 19 of the coolest features ConcernedApe added to the game post-launch that you might not have noticed—things that were probably out of sight, engulfed by all the bigger stuff or things you haven’t experienced since then put down the game a while ago. Maybe this will bring you back to the game!

(The nose is so big Stardew Valley Wikihave invaluable databases in putting together this list!)

Clean the beach

Finally, you can clean up the messy, inaccessible part of the beach in the Cindersap Forest — as well as all the knickknacks outside Pam’s house. The way you can do it is to go to the Sewer entrance from year 3 onwards, as long as it doesn’t rain, and look for the Garbage Bear. He’ll ask you for some random seasonal items, and once you’ve completed his request, he’ll gladly clean up those areas and even upgrade the dog kennels in town.

combination rings

Dungeon Volcano’s level ten forge can be used to upgrade and enchant weapons, but did you know it can also combine the power of two rings? Obviously your farmer only has two fingers, so you should maximize the power of the two rings you can wear. It takes 20 Charcoal Shards to combine the rings, but it will also combine effects to create an extremely powerful toolkit.

You can also uncombine the rings for free, but you’ll only get back some of the Charcoal Shards you used to create it.

Lost & Found Box

Pierre’s house now has a “Lost & Found” box, which contains items lost during failed quests, items from offline players, children’s hats that have been turned into pigeons, and other items. Products left in the display case at the Valley Fair . Do we trust Pierre to keep all this in his house? Nooooot really.

Auto petting animals

Auto-Petter was added in update 1.5 and works exactly as its name suggests — it gives your animals sweet TLC without you having to be present. Sure, it doesn’t really give you a lot of friendship points (animals aren’t stupid), but it will improve their mood comparable to manual petting.

It costs 50,000G and can be purchased from JojaMart after completing the Joja Community quest, or if you’re not a monster, you can get it from the Skull Cavern’s treasure chest.

Upgrade your warehouse

As of version 1.4, there is now a Large Warehouse, the same size as the warehouse on the outside but twice as large on the inside — 137 seats in total. All the crates you can dream of1

You only need to go to Robin’s Carpenter’s Shop to buy an upgrade for 20,000G, but you have to prepare the warehouse to upgrade. Also, in update 1.3.36, ConcernedApe centered the doorway. That’s very important to some of us.

Pierre’s Divorce Book

Pierre also has a new feature in his house since update 1.1 — divorce book, which allows you to divorce your spouse for 50,000G. This causes that NPC to return to a heartless state and change their relationship to “ex”, and they will also comment on your marital failure in the future. It’s much more expensive and more difficult than using the Witch’s Hut to erase your spouse’s memories… but it’s probably kinder, isn’t it?

Change gender

In update 1.5, ConcernedApe added the ability to go to the Temple of Illusion in the Mage’s basement and change your name, favorite, and gender for just 500G. You will need 4 hearts with the Wizard or access to the Witch’s Hut – the red gate will take you to the Wizard’s basement.

Man on the Moon

On the 27th of any month, on a non-rainy day, it is likely that a full moon will appear on the shipping display at the end of the night. If you click on that moon 11 times, it will turn into the face of a grumpy, monocular man — possibly a reference to French silent film, A Trip to the Moonin which a rocket crashes into one of the men in the moon’s eyes.

Caught cheating

If you try to change your name in the Shrine of Illusions by cheating using the item spawn codes to get items without earning them, you will receive one of the following messages (from Stardew Valley Wiki):

  • ConcernedApe: What kind of name is that? Looks fishy…
  • Mr. Qi: Is it easy {{name of dish}}? I’m disappointed, kid. I think you want to beat this game fairly?
  • *He shook his head… ‘I built this farm the old fashioned way, not with unlimited {{item name}}…’
  • ConcernedApe is angry because you are cheating…
ConcernedApe: I’m not really angry… have fun.
  • Call all cars! Call all cars! We had [a/an] {{item name}} the thief is on the run!

Rearrange Museum artifacts

You can now rearrange Museum artifacts if you think of a better way to display them or if you’ve abandoned the method you were using before.

Gate is twice as wide

As of version 1.4, you can now put ports side by side — which means it’s finally possible to make ports twice as wide.

A selection of biting fish

There are now four different options for the “fish bite” sound effect, if that blerp-blerp drove you crazy. You can find the option to change it under the Options tab in your in-game menu.

Organize inventory (but not tools)

Do you love organizing your inventory, but hate when it mixes up your carefully curated tools? You are not alone — there are clearly enough people asking for the ability to organize your inventory and Leave the tools alone that ConcernedApe added this feature in version 1.5.

Item Recovery Service

Talk to Marlon in the Adventurer’s Guild to gain access to the Item Recovery Service. If you pass out in a dungeon, cave, or mine after losing all of your health or stamina, Marlon will be able to restore one of the items you lost — for a fee. You’ll have to pay the cost of that item or stack, so it’s not really about saving the item you’ll sell, but rather you can get back valuable and priceless items. For a price.

Luxury scarecrow

There are eight Rarecrows in the game, which can be found in a variety of ways — but, as the name suggests, they’re pretty hard to find. But once you’ve got all eight, you’ll get a crafting recipe in the post that shows you how to make the secret. ninth Rarecrow… is easily the best scarecrow in the game, with twice the range of other Rarecrows.

Change color Junimo

As of update 1.4, you can place gems inside the Junimo Tent to change the color of the Junimo that lives in it. This was hinted at in one of the Secret Notes!

Randomly select Community Center

Bored of old challenges? When starting a new game, you now have the option to randomly select Community Center packs, which will combine things nicely. Or terrible. It was just the luck of the draw!

A secret tribute to Krobus

Go fishing from the southernmost point of Cindersap Forest, right next to the sewer, with level 15 fishing you’ll have a chance to catch the secret statue of Iridium Krobus, paying homage to everyone’s favorite roommate .

Farewell to everyone by burning flowers

Put the Bouquet in the oven to get the Withered Bouquet, which works the opposite of a regular Bouquet — instead of using it to ask someone who has a relationship with you, the Wither Bouquet bids them farewell. This can only be used for people you are dating, not people you are married to. Divorce isn’t that easy, man.

Did you know all of these updates? What’s your favorite thing that’s been added to Stardew since launch? Give us your thoughts in the comments!
