As a child and a teenager, I spent hour in my bathroom grooming myself. In retrospect, that seems a bit far-fetched, but it wasn’t vanity but curiosity. I love experimenting with new products even when TV and magazine ads don’t reflect my skin and hair needs as a young Black girl. But in that moment, as I absorbed all the stories and images in the magazines that I begged my mother for while queuing at the grocery store, I knew I wanted my career to be like that. like the names I see in the name line on every page. .
Now, I am here, but in digital version. And, I must say, I am often amazed that this is my career. How many of us can actually do what we love for a living? And, I know for sure that little B, who used to sit in her room with a Brandy CD playing over and over, reading a teen magazine from cover to cover, as well. will be amazed. Well, at least, I hope she thinks I’m cool.
These days, my beauty needs go beyond glitter lip gloss and hair gel to style my baby’s hair. As I entered my late 30s, my goal was not to be perfect or to defy aging. Instead, it’s about caring and loving myself as I am, and all of my holy grail products reflect that. So I hope you find something in this mix that helps you do the same!
