There are plenty to choose from—from the Fire TV Stick to the Echo Dot (including one for kids). Amazon is also offering massive discounts on its Fire and Kindles line of tablets. Amazon Basic Kindle (8/10, Recommend with WIRED) is ours favorite to recommend for most people. It has a 6-inch E Ink touchscreen with a built-in front light that makes it easier to read in the dark. However, it’s not as waterproof as the Kindle Paperwhite, and it only comes with 8 gigabytes of storage.
Like Amazon’s line of Fire tablets for kids, the company’s Kindle Kids Edition also comes with a protective case, two-year warranty, and one-year free Amazon Kids+ (allows parents to set reading goals, age filters, and add books to their child’s library).
The Kindle Paperwhite Kids is a better choice if you’re looking for something a little more durable, as it’s waterproof. It also comes with a 6.8-inch display, which is larger than the 6-inch display on Kindle Kids.
