dry treatment, damaged fenceand acne prone skin During the winter can be a challenge, to say the least. As someone who has tried almost everything out there to clean their skin, I can finally say that I have some solid suggestions for those who might be facing similar woes this season. Remember that everyone skin is different, so what works for me may not work for you, but I can tell you a little bit about my product in the hope that if yours is similar, then at least I can show you a few products that end up working just fine.
Ironically, my skin hates most “acne” products. Anything that contains a higher percentage of salicylic acid or other harsh active ingredients that really make my skin break out than or they are too dry. At this point, I actually find that using moisturizing and sensitive formulas really clears up my skin pretty quickly. Not to mention I’ve been using Tretinoin for years to clear my skin, but I didn’t realize it was destroying my skin barrier in the process. Let me tell you, some people may say that drying the skin and treating acne is the solution to clearing up acne, but it is definitely not. Damage to the skin barrier can create opportunistic “holes” in your skin for bacteria and other pollutants to enter, exacerbating your acne.
Even though I’ve learned all of this and it’s a must for my own skincare journey, I still turn to the experts for more advice because we know skin care doesn’t work. ever effective with a one-size-fits-all approach. Marisa Garshick, MD has a few tips. ““It’s important that even people with acne-prone skin remember to use a moisturizer to prevent skin from becoming too dry or irritated,” she says. Also, if the skin feels tight or dry and flaky, it may be necessary to skip a day of any acne treatments for the skin to recover. For those with dry, acne-prone skin, it’s especially important to use active ingredients slowly, starting with just a few times per week and gradually increasing the frequency.”
