20 best foods for German Shepherds with sensitive bellies

We used dog food with Salmon listed as the number one ingredient. We also feed our GS 3 times a day with the smallest portion before going to bed. Changing from 2 to 3 feedings per day makes a huge difference. The last feeding before bedtime is only a small amount so that the baby does not go hungry. We also added cooked chicken.

Our vet gave us a low fat Scientific Diet ID. It’s a prescription. We use both canned and dry food.

After trying many Rx and non-Rx brands, my foster home did the best Purina Pro Plan for sensitive skin and stomach (salmon and rice, large varieties). I think dogs, like people, are individuals – what’s best for one may not work for another.

First Veterinary ExaminationEPI is very popular in GSD. We had 2 drugs that required medication (PanaKare, expensive by prescription, but they don’t need much – I’m sure there are other prescription enzymes that help the pancreas process food) and he did one great way on the BilJac feed. One of our shepherds now can’t process grains (non-EPI) and he does a great job with grain-free seeds (Natural Balance duck and sweet potatoes) that are grain-free which is not good for dogs young, but he started with it at 8 years old, so we also the vet will help you diagnose what disease and give proper care

Stomach sensitive yellow solid is the only food our GSD can eat. After 6 months and trying 5 different stomach upset diets, this was the only one that worked for him. We even tried the chicken and rice at home. The vet recommended Solid Gold and it worked! He’s been up there for two and a half years with no problems.

Cooking house. I usually make rice with meat like salmon or chicken. Vegetables and some braised chicken. Whole eggs (with shell) and some vitamins and spices. You can find delicious recipes online. It’s really not that expensive either, especially when you buy in bulk. You can also prepare meals so that you can easily make a worthwhile amount of food at once.

I take my boy Purebred Duck Canidae or bison. It’s expensive and I need to try and find something less expensive. I’ve got 5 gsd and all of them are fine but this guy can’t stand something in it. I have tried all of them. I also used Wellness Simple, it’s good but I can’t afford it
