Zoo Visitors take pictures Scary moment Dog Enters Gorilla Enclosure

Visitors to the San Diego Safari Park Zoo recently witnessed a horrifying interactive scene when a wild dog entered the gorilla’s enclosure. No one is sure how a dog got into the zoo or barn, but once a gorilla starts chasing the dog, everyone panics.

A few guests filmed the dog-gorilla interaction. Both are innocent animals that don’t deserve to be hurt. But sadly, if a fight breaks out, the dog won’t stand a chance alongside the gorilla’s strength. Fortunately, zoo staff and animal rescuers quickly arrived on the scene and resolved the chaos before anyone was harmed.

Lost dog in the zoo

According to the zoo, many dogs roamed the property on the day of the incident. However, no one knows how those dogs got into the zoo in the first place. Somehow, a Shepherd mix has found its way into the gorilla enclosure, where a gorilla named Frank is wandering around.

Several zoo visitors pulled out their phones when they spotted a dog exploring the gorilla exhibit. In the video, Frank notices the dog and starts walking closer to it. A large drop of water surrounds the cage, so the dog has nowhere to escape.

Soon after, the gorilla chased the dog around the enclosure. Watching the video is a stressful experience, so it must be especially horrifying to bystanders. Many guests called out Frank’s name to try to distract him from the dog.

The people around tried to distract the gorilla to coax the dog out. Staff eventually escorted everyone out of the area,” wrote news reporter Hunter Sowards.

All animals and people are safe

Zoo staff and people from San Diego Humane Society came as soon as they heard about the dog. Zoo staff safely removed the gorilla from its cage. They explain that recall training is an important safety procedure for park animals.

When the gorillas had nowhere to go, shelter staff approached the dog, which was understandably shivering. However, he was friendly and allowed strangers to put chains on him and reward him. Fortunately, no other dogs found in the zoo participated in any of the exhibits.

“Our Humanitarian officers were able to safely come and chain the shepherd and bring him back to our Escondido Facility for evaluation,” the humanitarian society said.

The dog doesn’t have a microchip, so it’s being held at the San Diego Humane Society to see if anyone claims it. If he has no family, he will be put up for adoption. The other dogs are also safe, but the shelter has yet to release information about them. It’s great that all humans and animals are okay after this scary situation.
