Through Greater Good Charities’ GOODS Program, many animal shelters and rescues receive food and other essential supplies. Those donations have saved the lives of many animals, including a former stray named Tess.
Tess used to be a neighborhood stray in Comer, Georgia. However, she deserved a better life than that, so a foster family from Doggie Harmony in Decatur agreed to take Tess into their care. Jennifer, the foster mom, already had a house full of dogs, but she was happy to open her heart to another.
Doggie Harmony receives food and crates from the GOODS Program, so those donations helped Jennifer easily support Tess while the pup waited to be adopted. Tess was part of Jennifer’s pack for a whole year, but all that waiting was worth it when the perfect adopters came along.
A New Life for Tess
Tess is now part of a family that has three kids. Her home is in a great area for walking and she has a fenced-in yard. Plus, her owners work from home, so she gets to be around her humans as much as possible. She patiently waited for a forever home for so long and she hit the jackpot!
Since Doggie Harmony receives donations from the GOODS Program, they no longer have to spend as much of their funds on food. Instead, they can focus their money on other areas of care like medical needs.
“A few of our fosters live in rural areas where there is often not even a county animal shelter to support strays.” Doggie Harmony wrote. “The GOODS Program enables us to help these fosters take in and feed many strays, while Doggie Harmony works on vetting and a forever home. We are very grateful to have this program as it expands our foster family to some of the areas in greatest need.”
