Yamaha announces updated and returned models for 2023

Yamaha announced the release of its remaining 2023 motorcycle lineup, which includes the first extended update to the Yamaha XMAX Sport Scooter since its introduction in 2018. Additionally, the 2023 Yamaha MT-07 has received get tech updates and the Yamaha Ténéré 700 returns in 2023 with two new color/graphic options.

The Yamaha XMAX 2023 retains the main features that Yamaha says make it the leader in the Sport Scooter segment. The car uses a liquid-cooled 292cc single-cylinder Blue Core engine, telescopic front fork, 15-inch front wheel, 14-inch rear wheel, traction control, front and rear disc brakes.

The scooter has a two-position windscreen, adjustable handlebars, underbody storage with room for two full-face helmets, a 12-volt accessory socket and Smart Key keyless entry.

Claimed fuel economy on the 2018 XMAX is 75 mpg, which should be over 250 miles over a 3.4-gallon tank, and the scooter comes in wet 397 pounds.

Going beyond the familiar, Yamaha says the 2023 XMAX represents the company’s biggest step forward in scooter design in recent years, from a new look to new technology.

Style update

Virtually every external part of the XMAX has been redesigned to create what Yamaha says is “a more compact and visually impressive machine”. New X-shaped LED headlights and taillights complement the aggressive style, and new high-mounted LED front lights add to the streamlined look. While the seat height remains at 31.3 inches, Yamaha says it’s been completely redesigned to increase comfort and reduce legroom.

New Yamaha Motorcycle Connection

New for 2023, Yamaha is introducing Y-Connect smartphone connectivity that allows riders to connect a smartphone directly to their scooter, enabling many new possibilities, including control phone and music, as well as the newly available turn-by-turn navigation of the Garmin system.

The XMAX 2023 is equipped with a new 4.2-inch color TFT infotainment screen located below the 3.2-inch LCD speedometer, as well as a new handlebar-mounted toggle switch to enable connected controls. Y-Connect and the Y-Connect app are free and provide the following functions for the new XMAX:

The Yamaha MT-07 2023 includes significant upgrades that enhance the overall package while staying true to the basic concept of a hypernaked bike.

MT-07 is still equipped with a 689cc DOHC parallel engine, liquid-cooled. In ours First ride review on 2021 model, dyno testing says 68 hp and 46.5 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels. Yamaha says on its website that the CP2 engine “provides both outstanding low- to mid-range torque and powerful high-rpm traction”. The MT-07 has a steel frame with the engine as the load-bearing member of the chassis, lightweight 10-spoke die-cast aluminum wheels shod with Michelin Road 5 tires and 3.7 gal rims. fuel tanks, all of which come together for a wet weight of 406 lb.

The MT-07’s front suspension features a 41 mm KYB fork with 5.1-inch travel and a link-type KYB rear shock that can be adjusted for both rebound damping and spring preload. With a 5.1-inch rear travel, the shock absorbers are arranged below the saddle with an almost horizontal alignment to help the chassis more compact. Stopping power comes from 298 mm front brake discs with 4-piston calipers and 245 mm rear brake discs. ABS is standard.

One of the most important additions to the Yamaha MT-07 2023 is the installation of a new 5-inch full-color TFT display that offers a choice of two different display modes. “Street” mode is a more modern layout with bar tachometer, digital speedometer, and gear selection indicators. The “Tourist” mode features a more conventional circular analog-style tachometer on the right side of the screen and a digital speedometer on the left.

The 2023 MT-07 also now features Yamaha Motorcycle Connect smartphone connectivity, which works in conjunction with the free Y-Connect app (available for iOS and Android) to enable direct connection between motorcycle and smartphone. bright. 2023 Yamaha MT-07 will be offered with three color options: Cyan Storm, Team Yamaha Blue and Matte Raven Black. It will be available from resellers starting April 2023 for an MSRP of $8,199.

The Yamaha Ténéré 700 returns in 2023 with two new color/graphic options: Team Yamaha Blue and Shadow Grey.

The rest of Yamaha’s 2023 models – including the Yamaha MT-03, MT-09, MT-09 SP, MT-10, MT-10 SP, XSR700, XSR900, Bolt R-Spec, Super Ténéré ES, FJR1300ES and Zuma 125 – both return unchanged.
