Yesterday, Microsoft Gaming CEO and Xbox head Phil Spencer announced the company has signed a 10-year agreement to bring back of Activision call of duty series for Nintendo platforms.

If you’re wondering how exactly it will work, Phil has now shared some insights in a new interview with The Washington Post. Obviously, it may take some time to get CoD games on the Nintendo platform, as work on the new platform will begin. after Activision Blizzard acquisition is complete.

Once everything is in place, the final plan is to get to the point where all versions of Call of Duty (including the Nintendo release) will be released at the same time. This is exactly what Phil said (via pure Xbox):

“Can you imagine if [the deal] closed on that day, starting the development work to make that a reality will probably take some time… As we get on with this, our plan will be when the [a Call of Duty game] released on PlayStation, Xbox and PC, and it will also be available on Nintendo at the same time.”

Spencer was also asked about how a series like Call of Duty would run on the Nintendo console. While Phil admitted “there’s definitely work” to be done, and mentioned how it would be different from a game. Minecraft“cross-platform targeting” is something Xbox has a lot of experience with:

“Minecraft and Call of Duty are different games. But from the way you bring the game to Nintendo, the way you run a development team that is cross-platform, that’s the experience we have.”
