World of Hyatt Globalist Status: Perks and Why You Want It

Not all hotel loyalty programs reward their most loyal customers fairly. However, Hyatt’s World offer perhaps elite status of the best hotel you can earn as its top level Globalist status.

Globalist members can get suite upgrades in most brands, free breakfast for each registered guest (up to two adults and two children), lounge access, free resort, free parking on bonus nights, bonus points, etc.

Having Globalist status can dramatically improve your Hyatt stays, making them more comfortable and more affordable.

In short, World of Hyatt’s Global status is an outstanding one. So let’s take a look at the top reasons we love Hyatt’s Globalist status.

Reward Points

World of Hyatt members without any elite status earn 5 basis points for every qualifying dollar spent. However, World of Hyatt Globalist members receive a 30% bonus on qualifying purchases, meaning they earn 6.5 points per dollar on qualifying purchases with Hyatt. Those bonus points can add up and turn into a sweet luxury vacation.

free breakfast

The complimentary breakfast is highly regarded among travelers for the hotel’s elite benefits. While Hyatt’s competitors often offer their top elite members a continental breakfast, the Hyatt Globalist offers an entirely different breakfast experience.

Whether you’re paying with cash or redeeming points, Hyatt Globalist members are treated to a complimentary full breakfast for up to two adults and two registered children in the room at most hotels.

While each Hyatt property may take its own approach, you can usually enjoy a full, hot breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant. At some Hyatt properties, you may even have the option of enjoying your complimentary breakfast through room service at no additional charge.

Access to the club lounge

As a World of Hyatt Globalist elite member, you’ll usually receive a complimentary full breakfast at their hotel unless the hotel has a club lounge. In that case, your Globalist status will grant you access to the club lounge, where you can usually enjoy breakfast and evening snacks at no extra cost. Some club lounges even offer complimentary evening cocktails.

While not all Hyatt properties have club rooms, you’ll often find them at Hyatt Regency and Grand Hyatt locations. However, the quality of the club lounges varies widely. In our experience, lounges outside of the US often offer better food and a wider range of complimentary drinks.

Even without World of Hyatt Globalist status, you can still access the club lounge during your upcoming stay at the Hyatt. For example, you can have a club access certificate that you earn when Hyatt Milestone Rewards. You can also book lounge access using extra points or cash at some hotels.

upgrade set

World of Hyatt Globalist members have several routes to secure free upgrades to suites.

First, as a Globalist member, you’re eligible for a standard suite upgrade with free space available upon check-in. This is similar to airline elite members receiving space-available first-class upgrades.

The second and more reliable method for Globalist members to secure the sets in use Hyatt Upgrade Certificate before. Through Hyatt Milestone Rewards program, you’ll receive two suite upgrade certificates for 50 elite-eligible nights or 80,000 basis points with Hyatt in a calendar year. You’ll also receive two additional suite upgrade certificates for 60 elite-eligible nights or 100,000 basis points in a calendar year. Each certificate allows you to upgrade a standard booking, booked with points, cash, or an eligible rate, to a standard suite reservation at no additional charge for stays of up to seven nights.

To determine which suites are eligible for a suite upgrade certificate, carefully review the room descriptions on each hotel’s website. Specifically, look for the term “set of standards” in the description of the set. The ability to reserve a suite for a special trip is a special privilege offered by Hyatt’s loyalty program that other major hotel programs cannot match.

Free resort

Travelers generally don’t like hotel resort fees, and it’s no wonder why.

Fortunately, Hyatt offers a simple way to avoid these fees: All World of Hyatt members can get a free resort when redeeming points or a free night bonus.

World of Hyatt Globalist members receive a complimentary resort fee on all eligible stays booked directly with Hyatt, whether paid for with points, cash, or a combination of the two. This can be a significant savings, especially for those who frequent high-end hotels and resorts.

To illustrate, a five-night cash booking at a beautiful hotel Grand Hyatt Kauai in Hawaii usually comes with a $265 resort fee. However, these fees are waived if you are a member of World of Hyatt Globalist.

Free parking

Some Hyatt hotels offer free parking, but upscale or urban hotels often charge a fee. For example, parking costs $55 per night at Park Hyatt Beaver creekwhile parking at Hyatt New York Hotel costs $90 per night.

Globalist members can avoid these parking fees if they book a bonus holiday using bonus points or certificates. This benefit does not apply to cash bookings or stays booked with a combination of points and cash. Additionally, if a third party owns the hotel’s parking lot, you may have to pay a parking fee even if you use points or award certificates.

Hyatt guest of honor

Hyatt Globalist status comes with valuable perks that you may want to share with your friends and family through the Guest of Honor program.

As a Globalist, you can use your points to book rewarded vacations for others. Your standard Globalist benefits, like complimentary breakfast, complimentary resort, and suite upgrade eligibility, are passed on to your guests. It’s important to note that the reservation must be for an award-winning stay as the Guest of Honor program does not apply to paid stays.

Elite check-in and late check-out

Hyatt Auckland Hotel in New Zealand. SUMMER HULL/THE POINTS

As a Globalist, you get priority access to available rooms at participating hotels if you arrive at your destination before the standard check-in time. Participating locations may also offer a dedicated area for elite members to sign up.

On the day you check out, Globalist members can often request a late check out at 4pm, which can be useful if you want to spend some extra time in your room before heading out.

Late check-out is subject to availability (and therefore is not guaranteed) at casino hotels, Hyatt resorts, and Destination Residences. Additionally, late check-out is not available at Hyatt Residence Club resorts. However, you should politely request a late check-out if necessary. Make sure to mention your World of Hyatt status to the front desk when making a request, as doing so can increase your chances of enjoying more of your time at the hotel.

How to Get Hyatt Globalist Status

To secure Hyatt Globalist status, you must accumulate 60 qualifying nights or 100,000 basis points in your World of Hyatt account within one calendar year. You can also earn Globalist status by holding 20 or more qualifying meetings or events in a calendar year.

Unlike Hilton Diamond Status And Marriott Platinum Elite Status, no credit card automatically grants Hyatt Globalist status. It can be challenging to earn Globalist status unless you travel often, but there are ways to make it easier.

Both paid and rewarded nights count towards 60 nights per year for Globalist status and Hyatt World Credit Card can speed up your progress. You get five qualifying night credits for status each calendar year just by having the card. Plus, for every $5,000 charged to the card, you’ll earn two qualifying nighttime credits the year you spent that amount. Best of all, there’s no limit to the number of qualifying night credits you can earn through spending on your card.
