Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” features many familiar faces, including Halle Bailey, Melissa McCarthy, and Javier Bardem. But the film also features some new faces, like Jessica Alexander, who plays Vanessa, Ursula’s alter ego.
Alexander wanted to pursue acting from an early age and she landed her first leading role in the Italian teen drama, “Penny on MARS”, which has been broadcast on Disney Channel in Italy since 2018. until 2020. After her success in the series, Alexander went on to star in the BBC iPlayer series “Get Even”, which brought her fame on screen and cameo roles in “Glasshouse”, “A Banquet” and “Into the Deep” from 2021 to 2022.
In March 2021, Alexander got her big break when she was cast as Vanessa in the live-action adaptation of “The Little Mermaid” and has been on everyone’s radar ever since. Touched by being a part of the film, the actor told Something About Rocks, “The movie is so much bigger than me. I just feel so overwhelmed. I can’t stop thinking how lucky I am to have been. I’m walking on set and I’m like, ‘Wow, this is scary.’ I’ve never felt so small on set before, but in a good way. It made me feel like a little cog in this amazing machine.”
Given Alexander’s versatility on screen in “The Little Mermaid,” which hits theaters May 26, we’re bound to see more of her in upcoming projects. Read on to learn more about the star!
