After asking the question nearly a year ago, an unnamed source in the management of Hong Leong Yamaha Motor said paultan.org the 2022 Yamaha Tenere 700 coming to Malaysia. In the previous example, we were told that the Tenere 700 would come to the local multi-purpose motorcycle market “probably in the second quarter of 2022”.
Since we’re past that date, our source told us on condition of anonymity, “we’ve done our market research and the info we got is this (off-road) is this. a booming market.” Our source added: “This will be a new direction for Hong Leong Yamaha and expand our offerings in the large displacement segment.
So while the actual release of the Tenere 700 is yet to be officially confirmed, our source, who has the credentials to be 100% gold inside Yamaha Malaysia, has said it will be. The question is one of the prices, we think it will be somewhere between RM50,000 based on Philippines and Thailand prices of RM51,912 and RM58,394 respectively.
Considering the Thai team’s sheer success in the recent Rimba Raid jungle enduro race, where 5 of the top 20 finishers on the Tenere 700s, it’s no surprise that the local off-road racers is calling for it and it looks like Yamaha Malaysia has heard the call.
