Why you should consider a telephoto zoom lens for landscape photography

When you think of landscape photography, you probably think of using a lens with a wider focal range, such as 16-35mm. Of course, there is a reason such lenses are widely used, but they are not the only option. In fact, much longer focal lengths can produce equally compelling photos. This great video tutorial will show you why a telephoto zoom lens can help you create eye-catching landscape photos.

Coming to you from Mads Peter IversenThis amazing video will show you why telephoto zoom lens can be very effective for landscape images. Because you can’t control the placement of elements in the frame, wide focal lengths can be difficult to use, as you could end up with an overly busy image. The longer focal length eliminates this problem by allowing you to pick out one or two interesting elements in the frame to bring the viewer’s focus without distraction. You probably won’t need an f/2.8 lens either, which will allow you to save both money and bulk by choosing a lens with a narrower maximum aperture. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Iversen.
