Why every photographer should try this camera setup
Whether you’re using full auto, aperture-priority, shutter-priority, or manual, there’s a setting that can make your life easier. This is why it can be useful to almost every photographer out there.
For a large part of my camera’s history, I’ve shot entirely manually, manually setting shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. Usually, when shooting action, I’ll manually adjust the ISO to adjust my exposure while relying on the histogram on the back of my DSLR to track my exposure.
If someone had told me about Auto ISO, I could have saved myself a lot of fiddling and could have gotten more goalkeepers as a result. Discovering this setting frees me up, freeing me to make more creative decisions instead of finding myself constantly distracted by having to keep a close eye on my settings. Obviously, you still have to keep that in mind, but Auto ISO requires less focus, allowing you to focus on other aspects.
If you haven’t tried it, you can fall into one of two camps: one who has yet to come out of Program mode, or one who is a tough all-around manual shooter and doesn’t want to give up any degree of control. any. Whichever camp you fall into, watch this video, try out Auto ISO and see how you go. I changed and never looked back. Let us know what you think about Auto ISO in the comments section below.
