While this mainstream listing didn’t yield many pleasant surprises, it did spark a conversation around why. this Artists are listed.
Specifically, users called the list because it was largely composed of light-skinned black women, which opened a conversation about colorism and “brown paper bags.”
I have a feeling that if I scroll through this topic, I won’t find a woman blacker than a brown paper bag. https://t.co/7NY3Ssj84j

With entries, some accusers of valuing looks over talent when it comes to women in the rap game.
When you say hottest, are you talking about looks? Cause Ice Spice is a terrible rapper, just like Rubi Rose and Saweetie. Female rappers are really spitting out rhythms and body rhythms and you’ll put these weak butt rappers here 😭 like wtf. Omeretta, where’s Monaleo? https://t.co/iQLcqjQFTk

All in all, while some people are happy with this list, most users consider it “invalid”.

Young Joc talks about the future of female rap scene
On the topic of women in hip hop, we should add that Young Joc recently shared his thoughts on the state of female rappers.
In an interview with VladTVJoc shared her thoughts on what women in rap go through.
“Let’s be honest: women don’t want to share, man. And sometimes they just don’t want to share the limelight. Call it what it is, and I understand. After all, it’s hard for women to find their place.”
He went on to say that he foresaw the “bullying” behavior that led to the downfall of some female rappers, like Shade room previous report.
“Even now, you’ve got all these female rappers. Give it another 180 days. Let’s take this time next year and see if we have more female rappers making such a splash. I bet you won’t, because a lot of them will be eliminated.”
What do you think of the original Twitter thread, as well as the subsequent discussion it sparked online? Also, who would you put on your “hottest female rapper” list?
