It turns out that temperature is not as simple as you might imagine.

Can the temperature on the ground be very different from what is reported on your device or on the TV? Yes, it can.

Can the duration of the maximum temperature vary at different depths in the soil? You bet.

And understanding the nature of surface temperature can save your life.

Here is the forecast for the total amount of rain for the next week. Up to FIVE INCHEs in the mountains. And a lot in eastern Washington. There is a possibility of flooding on a few rivers in Washington.

Lots of snow above 4000 ft! (see below). There will be good skiing at Whistler in June. Several feet will fall in the mountains of British Columbia.

And unseasonably cold is being forecast for the next ten days (see Central Europe forecast below). Very unusual.
