What We Know So Far About the Michigan High School Shooting Suspect
Suspect in shooting in Oxford High School in Michigan According to Oakland County Sheriff Michael McCabe.
Authorities said three students were killed and at least eight others injured on Tuesday afternoon.
“Deputies detained the suspect within five minutes of the initial 911 call,” McCabe said at a news conference.
Authorities identified the suspect as a 15-year-old sophomore who was in the same class before the shooting.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is executing a search warrant on the suspect’s home, according to McCabe. Officials said the suspect met his parents after the shooting and was asked not to speak to police. His parents hired a lawyer to represent their son.
Oakland County Prosecutor Karen D. McDonald said in a statement Tuesday that her office has “initiated the process of receiving information related to the investigation.”
McDonald added that her office will “promptly issue appropriate charges.”
McCabe said the sheriff’s office is still investigating the incident and has not shared a motive for the deadly shooting.
