After a 3-2 win over Slovakia to open World Juniors 2022, Team America’s momentum came to an abrupt halt on Tuesday when the match against Switzerland was canceled because of a positive COVID-19 test.
The Americans had nine different players score in Sunday’s win over Slovakia, but after two American players tested positive, the team entered a mandatory quarantine, canceling the match against Switzerland and taking match against Sweden on Wednesday.
If it becomes unplayable, it will likely go down as a loss and a loss for the Americans. Team USA currently has three points, giving them three points in second place in Group B.
Sweden have scored nine goals in two games and the score is 2-0. The Swedes boast seven previous first-round entries on their team, and although they didn’t win a medal last year, they took home bronze in 2019 and have won three silvers since 2013.
