We should see more of Bethesda’s Starfield next summer
Starfield There’s a very long way to go – in fact, it’s set to release exactly one year from today. We already know a bit about Bethesda’s upcoming space RPG, and last night director Todd Howard revealed a few more rumours about what’s in store. In the Q&A on Reddit, he talked about the game’s character creator, mod support, and potential robotic companions, as well as mentioning that the developers plan to show more Starfield next summer.
When asked if Starfield would have any “disruptive innovation” that sets the stage for future RPGs, Howard said they’d rather show it off than talk about it.
“We want to just show it, which will be next summer,” he say. “We’re delighted with the advancements we’ve been able to make, some of which you can see in the trailer shot in the game.”
Oh, that’s too far. I am looking forward to it though. One thing I hope Starfield does better is character design, and it looks like I’m not alone. I’ve been very disappointed in the last few RPGs I’ve played with this one, like Cyberpunk 2077 and Mass Effect: Andromeda. I think Fallout 4 has one of the better creators (at least in Bethesda’s library), and that came out six years ago.
Howard mentioned that he’s “really excited about what the team has done with character creation” in Starfield. Everyone will be able to choose their resume, skills, and more. “You can also choose your pronouns (he, she, they) and we’ve recorded all the relevant dialogue to support that choice,” he added.
To all you modders and mod-users, Howard also said Bethesda plans to add “full mod support” like their previous games. “Our modding community has been with us for 20 years. We love what they do and hope to see more make a career out of it,” he said.
Finally, he said the game will feature robot companions, “type”. Difficult to understand. That topic turns into a conversation about Fallout: New Vegas’s Fisto, so maybe we shouldn’t look too deeply into that yet.
Starfield will arrive exactly one year from today, November 11, 2022. I wonder, in 11 years time, if we will celebrate Starfield’s 10th anniversary with its new XXth edition. are not like we did with Skyrim today? Gosh, maybe we’ll see a trailer for The Elder Scrolls 6 in 2032.
