WBO orders Jermell Charlo vs Tim Tszyu
The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has ordered the start of negotiations between the parties representing Jermell Charlo and Tim Tszyu.
Charlo Becomes Undisputed Super Heavyweight Champion with the number 10 stressedorder knockout victory over Brian Castaño in their rematch earlier this month. The win gave Charlo the fourth and final piece of the title and now Tim Tszyu has him in the spotlight.
Tszyu solidifies her position as WBO number one contender and must-have challenger after a successful US debut against Terrell Gausha. A full 12-point win was not without problems for the Australian for the first time in his career in the opening match.
In a letter from WBO to TGB Promotions and Promotions Unlimited, it said, ‘Please note that the parties have 20 days from receipt of this letter to reach an agreement.’
If an agreement cannot be reached, then the war will come at a cost.
Jermell, twin brother of WBC middleweight champion Jermall has hinted at a move to 160lbs. If that is the case then Tszyu will fight for the championship against a candidate nominated by the WBO. Britain’s Liam Smith is one place behind Tszyu in the top 10 of regulatory agencies.
