Every Sports sky: “The WBC has ordered Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte to begin negotiations for a mandatory WBC heavyweight title fight.” That means 33-year-old Whyte could finally get his long-awaited chance to face Fury in the ring. The WBC gave the reigning heavyweight champion Fury some time to see if he could get a unified fight against multi-titled player Oleksandr Usyk, who recently stunned a lot of people by defeating Anthony Joshua for the title of Joshua or not. Fury-Usyk is not happening, however, at least not for the moment. All of that now leaves a chance for 28-2 Whyte to win a crack at the WBC world heavyweight belt.

Whyte has fought many big names in the tournament except Fury and Deontay Wilder. Since starting his career in 2011, the English player (as Jamaica is called) has battled the likes of Joshua, Derick Chisora, Joseph Parker, Alexander Povetkin and others. Though he lost to Joshua and Povetkin, those were the only men Whyte suffered defeat first. Furthermore, Whyte came back and beat Povetkin in their rematch and no one doubts that he is ready, able and willing to get a second chance against Joshua. Fury, though, is now the man before him. The WBC will give both sides a number of weeks for the fight to be waged – and if no agreement is reached by that time, a bid will be made.

Based on Mirror, “The fight is likely to take place next March with Cardiff and Manchester as one of the potential venues.” It makes complete sense that the fight will go down in England, since Fury, like Whyte, is an Englishman. On top of that, Fury hasn’t fought in his hometown since 2018, when he beat Francesco Pianeta by ten decisive rounds. Whyte, on the other hand, went to war in Great Britain in 2020.

Despite having won many titles, Whyte has long wanted a real glory. An interim WBC heavyweight title would be nice, but now he wants to be the undisputed WBC and online heavyweight champion of the world. First, though, he’ll have to get past Fury, whose big personality and big frame support a massive skill set. Fury’s last bout was a rematch with Deontay Wilder that took place in October. It was a great love affair, which saw the man calling himself the “King of Gypsy” triumph.

Now Whyte wants the chance to bask in the limelight for himself.
