VW ID.Buzz electric car 2025 has 3 rows of seats, American version AWD

Volkswagen has provided the first look at the long-awaited ID.Buzz electric van in the United States—finally, in a form that Americans will be able to buy.

What have we been waiting for? The US versions of the Volkswagen ID.Buzz 2025, VW says, will be manufactured at the same factory in Hanover, Germany, but they will have a third row of seats. They will be almost 10 inches longer than the European versions. They will have a 91-kwh battery pack. And they will offer all-wheel drive. Even the single-engine rear-wheel drive version of the ID.Buzz will be more powerful in US spec, at 282hp instead of 201hp.

Whether Americans really want to wait about two years for that gift bag is another matter. Even if you’ve been holed up in a community for over seven years, with the book “How to Keep Your VW Alive” in your hand and only thinking of the spinning beans in your head, you can know that there is a new electric Microbus in operation. way.

Yes, it was a long wait. Six years ago this month, VW confirmed that the reception was warm Concept ID.Buzz used to be production limitand a few months later Green Car Reports drive it and found the classic concept to be captivating, attention-grabbing, and incredibly spacious.

Then Green Car Reports drove the European version of ID.Buzz last year and found it to be the perfect counterpoint to the mainstream of crossovers. At those dimensions, it’s sized in many ways for urban families—with easy visibility and excellent maneuverability, while effectively adjusting the VW ID’s parking space. 4, Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and more with something distinctly different and utilitarian in style.

How much bigger is Buzz for America?

Americans may never see that standard-length version, so here’s what we’re looking at: In US XL form, the ID.Buzz is 192.4 inches long, 77.9 inches wide, and 74.6 inches tall, while running on a 127.5-inch wheelbase—9.9 inches longer than the two-row version. The panoramic glass sunroof available in electrochromic tones measures 67.4 inches long and 40.8 inches wide.

US versions will include seating for seven passengers, dual power sliding rear side doors and a power tailgate with AC plugs under the passenger seat. The front seats will be heated, cooled and electrically adjustable. Some may prefer the captain’s seat layout in the second row, reduced to six.

ID.Buzz range and charging

The 91 kwh battery capacity is the total and based on the capacity included in the same sized pack in ID.7, the available (actual) capacity will be 86 kWh. VW has yet to reveal the driving range EPA will give US ID.Buzz drivers, but available power is about 12% higher than the Euro version’s 77 kWh. It’s likely that will result in more realistic range, though the US version will be significantly heavier. In well-equipped Euro-spec form, the ID.Buzz weighs about 5,400 pounds. Add length, a third row, battery backup, and all-wheel drive, and it’s capable of up to 6,000 pounds.

VW confirms that it will be able to quickly charge from 10% to 80% in about 25 minutes, at a peak of 170 kW.

VW ID.Buzz 2025 will be the second US product—after aero-savvy 2025 VW ID.7 electric hatchback—to get VW’s new AP550 engine, which produces 406 lb-ft of torque and combines both oil and water cooling. The US Buzz’s top speed is 99 mph, up from the European version’s 90 mph, and in extended American splendor it still maintains a drag coefficient of 0.29.

Technology inside VW . electric truck

The infotainment system receives many of the same enhancements as the ID.7, which will be available by the time ID.Buzz arrives here. The 12.9-inch touchscreen now features climate functions that “stick” to the bottom of the screen for easy access, along with numerous user-settable shortcuts. A dedicated 5.3-inch screen in front of the steering wheel displays key driver information. VW’s ID.Light inherits from ID.4 and helps communicate on navigation, safety and even phone calls without forcing the driver to look down at the screen. And a head-up display and remote parking are among the tech extras available.

There’s so much to like and size aside, the US version’s sticker price may be the most controversial thing about ID.Buzz. With its stickers expected to top around $65,000, or a little more, all told, nostalgia comes with a hefty price tag. But if you don’t want to stick to today’s standards, it’s worth it.
