VW electric van, Mach-E production, “self-charging” hybrid: Car News Today

Ford is aiming to ramp up production of the Mustang Mach-E. Mazda is in a “self-charging” marketing cycle. And VW has plans for an electric camping van. This and more, here at Green Car Report.

Ford is planning more produce three times the electric SUV Mustang Mach-E by 2023, with an additional boost set to begin next year, its CEO announced on Friday. And according to one report, that could mean delaying the next-generation Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator SUVs to accommodate it.

Volkswagen last week confirmed ID.California — yes, it’s a electric truck, built in Hanover, Germany, along with other passenger and cargo versions of its VW ID.Buzz Electric Bus revival. Although it has yet to confirm that such a model is bound by the US, but how could they not?

Mazda is starting to roll out a new generation of hybrids — including a future US CX-50 hybrid — that combine Toyota’s expertise with technology, and unfortunately in Europe they’re using “Full self-charging” close to what got Lexus into trouble with consumer groups. Is this misleading to shoppers?
