Vice President Kamala Harris celebrated 50 years of establishment Roe sues Wade decided by calling on Americans to act to bring abortion rights into law.

“For nearly 50 years, Americans relied on the rights that fish eggs protected,” Harris said in a speech in Tallahassee, Fla., on Sunday. “However, today, on our 50th anniversary, we talk about fish eggs decide in the past tense.”

The Supreme Court’s landmark decision on January 22, 1973, guaranteed the constitutional right to abortion for nearly half a century. US Supreme Court officially reversed Roe sues Wade in June, immediately abolished abortion rights in nearly half of the states and resulted in more restrictions. While speaking in Florida, Harris, the nation’s first female vice president, delivered a speech in a state that passed a 15-week abortion ban into law.

In his speech, Harris directly addressed the anti-abortion policies implemented by Florida’s Republican governor, Ron DeSantis, and state officials.

After the Food and Drug Administration changed a rule to allow retail pharmacies to sell prescription drugs for the abortion pill, the Florida Health Care Administration sent a letter to pharmacists telling them that dispensing the abortion pill may lead to criminal charges.

“Here in Florida, health care providers face prison sentences – prison! – up to 5 years just for doing their job. “And now the state has also targeted drug abortions, and even threatened Florida pharmacists with criminal charges if they provide drugs prescribed by medical professionals.”

Harris said the Biden administration will work to expand access to abortion. The White House pointed out executive order signed last year.

“The right of every woman, in every state, in this country, to make decisions about her own body,” Harris said. “I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again: How dare they?”

President Biden echoed the sentiment above Roe sues Wade celebrate on Sunday.

“I will continue to fight to protect women’s right to choose,” Biden said in a White House statement. “Congress must restore the protections of the Roe sues Wade in federal law – that’s the only way we can fully guarantee the right of choice for women in every state.”

Harris concluded his speech by saying that the Biden administration will continue to work to protect abortion rights.

“Know this: President Biden and I agree, and we will never back down,” Harris said. “We will not back down. We know this war will not be won until we guarantee this right to every American. Congress must pass a bill that protects liberties and liberties. ”

Abortion rights advocates in Congress have failed in previous attempts to pass abortion law at the federal level when the Democrats have a majority in both the House and Senate. With Republicans now holding a majority in the House, any federal legislation on abortion rights has little chance of passing.
