When it spilled, which often happened, he didn’t have the strength to pick it up by himself. August also struggles with throttle and brake controls, but young children learn quickly.
Volcon Kids Moto Hai
Volcon ePowersports is one of the new players in the electric vehicle market. Founded in 2020 and headquartered in Austin, Texas, most of its all-terrain vehicles – including two-wheeled Grunt, Runt and Brat models and four-wheeled Stag UTV – are made in the US, though However, the company’s youth models are made. by Torrot, a Spanish manufacturer.
Volcon offers two models: Kids Moto One ($2,899) and Kids Moto Two ($2,999). Aimed at younger/smaller kids, the One has a 0.84 kW motor, 10-inch wheels and a 22.6-inch seat height. It weighs 68.3 lb and is suitable for riders weighing up to 66 lb. Designed for children 6-11 years old, the Two has a 1.5 kW motor, 14 inch front and 12 inch rear wheel, and 25.2 inch seat height. It weighs 77.2 lb and has a maximum rider weight of 88 lb. Top speeds are similar: 26 mph in the One and 27 mph in the Two.
The Volcon Kids Moto Two has been delivered to the Becks house and it comes in a small box. August’s father, Paul, was a handy man and getting ready to ride it was simple.
For the test, we went to Hungry . Valley State Vehicle Recreation Area north of Los Angeles, where there is a small track for dirt bikes and ATVs under 90cc. Since August is still learning the basics of off-road driving, the Moto Two is right for him. It’s a whopping 29 lb lighter than his CRF-E2, making it more manageable and easier to grab.
It takes a lot of practice to learn how to control the throttle (yes, we know that the right twist grip on e-bikes adjusts the engine control). Young children are not known for dexterity and August is still in the stage of turning the throttle back instead of accelerating gradually. That often results in the bike accelerating suddenly before his body and head are ready for it. He reacts by pressing the accelerator forward again, resulting in jerky movements of the bike and body until he picks up speed.
The Moto Two has Bluetooth connectivity that allows the bike to be paired with the Torrot smartphone app. August’s father, Paul, used the app to configure the Two’s parameters – maximum power, top speed, throttle response and regeneration. Each parameter can be adjusted via a slider or three preset levels – low, medium and high – can be selected for all parameters at once. As August got more comfortable, his dad adjusted the settings.
This bike is solidly built with a chrome steel frame, hydraulic fork with 3.7-inch travel, preload-adjustable shock absorbers with 4.9-inch travel, disc brakes and spokes wheels. with Michelin Starcross tyres. Another cool feature is the replaceable battery, which makes recharging more convenient, and an optional second battery that can provide ready-to-go power when the first is depleted. (Standard 48-volt, 8.8-Ah battery is $599.99; upgraded 48-volt, 12.5-Ah battery is $899.99.)
Thanks to its light weight and programmability, the Volcon Moto Two is a great bike for beginners. For younger or shorter kids, the Moto One is a better option, but the Moto One is a kid’s bike that can last a few years. August loved it, and it’s now part of the stable Beck family. Wolfgang’s brother is winning a little bit.
