Ten years after its US launch, the Yamaha MT-09 has been updated and improved for 2024 while maintaining the wildness we loved about the first generation. Updates on this generation are extensive, including new audio amplifier grilles, improved transmission, stronger ergonomics, stiffer chassis, updated suspension, new Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S23 tires , a new 5-inch TFT display, new switches and electronics complete the parcel.
We rode the MT-09 in California’s Santa Cruz Mountains during Yamaha’s press launch and then rode home after the launch, testing the MT-09 on a variety of trails. We’re impressed with the bike’s improvements and are happy to see how this motorcycle has evolved over the past decade.
