Kell Brook violently ended his long and bitter rivalry with fellow Brit Khan.
As the whole boxing world waited impatiently for the pair to finally share the ring with each other, the two officially locked horns over the weekend at Manchester Arena, UK.
Khan, 35, has been boxing well outside from a very early age. However, his moments of success are ultimately fleeting as Brook bullies his men. The former IBF weightlifter forced referee Victor Loughlin to rush in to save Khan in the sixth round when he hit mercilessly.
Since the win, Brook’s name has been linked to current co-first contender Conor Benn and former interim middleweight titleholder, Chris Eubank Jr. At the moment, it is not clear which path Brook will choose in the end. That said, Vergil Ortiz Jr will have no objection to entering the ring with him next.
The match against Brook could provide the 23-year-old with another former player to add to his growing résumé. But while Ortiz Jr sees the benefit of facing Brook, he’s hesitant to face the 35-year-old for obvious reasons.
“It was a good fight,” said Ortiz Jr. in an interview with Fight Hub TV. “The only thing that worries me is will people appreciate him? People will say that he is old. “
Although Brook’s birth certificate has collected a significant amount of dust, after his victory over Khan, Brook reveals that he still feels as young and alert as ever, it could even be said that he he was feeling 23 back.
While a head-to-head clash between Brook and Ortiz Jr is extremely unlikely, if the 147-pound heavyweight wants to make his name into the mix, he’ll need to take care of the anti-business business first. back to Michael McKinson.
