Valve holds virtual Steam Deck conference today

Valve will host the Steamworks Virtual Conference later today, where Steam floor Developers will talk about hardware, development and all kinds of specifications. It’s a developer-focused event, but it’s free to watch for everyone, so if you’re interested in hearing some behind-the-scenes details about Valve’s handheld PC, it might be worth keeping an eye on.

The stream starts at 6pm GMT (10am PST) and will run until around 11pm GMT (3pm PST). You can catch it on Steam Community site, where you can also see the full schedule.

After some conversation about how game developers can make their games run on handheld devices, the designers of the Steam Deck will give an overview of the device’s hardware. , explaining how and why they did it the way they did.

After that, there will be sections discussing how the usual Steam features work on the Steam Deck, as well as new features specifically designed for the Deck. Then, at the end, there’s a live Q&A where Steamworks developers can ask questions.

Elsewhere in the news on the Steam Deck, the handheld’s release has been delayed to February 2022. It was supposed to launch this December, but Valve said it was experiencing material shortages and “global supply chain issues”.
