United and Marriott Promotions: Elite Members Can Sign Up to Earn Rewards Points and Miles

Since its inception Marriott Bonvoy Hotel In 2018, Titanium Elite and Ambassador Elite members became eligible for United Airlines’ entry-level Premier Silver status through RewardsPlus Partnership. Likewise, United Premier Gold, Platinum, 1K and Global Service Members are eligible for Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite membership.

While this partnership is a way for intermediate and advanced United MileagePlus members to ensure Marriott status (and Marriott elite members to ensure entry level State of unity), it doesn’t give any incentive beyond that to do business with this brand.

For a limited time, that changed.

Now through August 31, Marriott Bonvoy Titanium and Ambassador members, along with United Premier Gold, Platinum, 1K and Global Services members, can earn additional United miles when staying at Marriott hotels and Marriott bonus points when flying with United.

Here’s what you need to know about this new offer.

Earn Marriott points and United miles

To qualify for the promotion, you must first link your Marriott Bonvoy and United MileagePlus accounts:

• Members with Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite or Ambassador Elite status can enroll in the program at this link to receive United MileagePlus Premier Silver membership.
• Members with United MileagePlus Premier Gold, Platinum or 1K status can enroll in the program at this link to receive Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite membership.

After linking, members can register for promotions (Click here to go to the registration page) and will earn 750 bonus points on every unique United trip and 500 bonus miles on every qualifying Marriott stay through August 31. These accruals are in addition to your standard earnings in both programs, and you don’t need to have membership in either program to participate.

If you book a flight using airline miles or a combination of airline miles and cash, you won’t earn Marriott bonus points. Likewise, redeeming points at Marriott properties won’t trigger United bonus miles; you have to stay at the eligible fare.

Additionally, any qualifying stay must be completed by August 31, with at least one night checked in by that date.

Terms and conditions to note

Bonvoy members must set their earning preference to hotel points instead of airline miles to receive bonus points for United flights. Additionally, this bonus is available once per eligible trip, so a round-trip United flight will only earn you 750 Marriott points—regardless of price. Additionally, award tickets or tickets booked with a combination of airline miles and cash are not eligible.

Price also isn’t a determining factor in how many miles you can earn from a Marriott stay, as a $100 stay at a low-cost Marriott brand will earn you the same 500 United miles as a $2,000 stay at the St. Regis or Ritz-Carlton. But it only takes a few seconds to sign up, so there’s nothing wrong with doing so.

If you booked your flight or hotel stay before July 1 (the promotion’s start date), you can still earn points or miles — as long as your flight or hotel stay begins before August 31.

This promotion with Marriott and United is similar to American Airlines and Hyatt Partnershipallows elite members to earn additional points when they shop with any company. Hyatt elite members can earn additional World of Hyatt points on American flights (1 point per dollar spent), while American elite members can earn additional AAdvantage miles on Hyatt stays (1 mile per dollar). Additionally, they regularly offer appropriate status or fast track provision.

However, the Hyatt-American integration applies to all elite members in both programs, while this integration is limited to higher-level elite members.

However, it’s great to see new incentives for frequent travelers to earn more rewards for their travel.
