Time has certainly flown by – we’re well into the second half of the year and most companies are now looking back at their first-half performance. One of them is UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT), which announced it had sold 7,600 vehicles in June 2024.

This figure decreased by about 9.8% compared to last month and down 12.3% from what the company had delivered. June last year. It is therefore no surprise that the company’s year-to-date performance has slipped slightly compared to 2023, with 47,000 units, down about 3.4% year-on-year.

However, UMWT considered it a strong month, something it attributed to its promotional efforts and focus on customer satisfaction and social responsibility. “We are grateful for the trust our customers have placed in us, which is reflected in our sales this month,” said chairman Ravindran Kurusamy. “This trust reinforces our commitment to society and is in line with our vision of Moving Your World.”

To build momentum this month, the company has introduced a “Ride with Peace of Mind” promotion offering up to 100% financing on selected models – an activity that will soon banned. There are discounts included up to RM7,500 Yaris – with monthly instalments starting from just RM688 – as well as the Toyota Service Savers programme with instalments starting from just RM31.

Also held this month was the Toyota Showroom Weekender event last weekend, July 13 and 14. The event, which took place nationwide, featured the Yaris, Vios, Corolla Cross and Hilux, with test drives, sales incentives, trade-ins and Topmark pre-owned options. The company said it would be holding more Toyota Showroom Weekender events, which UMWT added were opportunities for community engagement and engagement, on a monthly basis.

“We are excited to continue hosting events like the Toyota Showroom Weekender, which allow us to engage directly with our customers and the community, emphasizing Toyota’s ‘Customer First’ mindset,” said Ravindran. “These interactions are critical to delivering on our commitment to exceptional service and our vision of Moving Your World.”
