Triumph triple speed recall RR/RS for loose bolts

More than 900 Triumph Speed Triple RR and Triumph Speed Triple RS (both 2022 models) are being recalled because the bolts holding their rear brake disc bolts could become loose.

According to the recall documents, the problem was the fact that the incorrect thread pattern on the rear axle failed to activate the thread locking compound provided by the mating bolt, which could cause the bolt to come loose.

The problem was discovered during ongoing testing, when Triumph observed that at 20,000 miles, one of the four retaining pins on one of its motorcycles came loose.

A subsequent investigation involving the rear axle supplier determined the root cause was incorrect thread form followed by failure to attach and activate the thread locking compound provided by Triumph’s mating bolts. .

Since loose rear brake disc bolts can contact other parts of the motorcycle and prevent the wheels from spinning freely, a recall is deemed necessary to ensure rider safety.

To fix it, Triumph dealers will replace the rear brake disc bolts free of charge. Owner’s notice letter is expected to be mailed on April 29, 2022.

Interested Triumph Speed Triple owners can contact Triumph customer service at 1-678-854-2010. Triumph’s number in this summoning is SRAN 596.

As always, NHTSA is available at 1-888-327-4236 and safecar.gov.
