Train crash in Germany: Three dead and 60 injured after train derails | World News
At least three people have been killed and 16 seriously injured after a train derailed in southern Germany.
A police spokesman said the train bound for Munich was quite full at the time it crashed north of the Bavarian ski resort of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
A total of about 60 people were injured in the accident, a spokesman for the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district office said.
Several students from the school were on the train, the local newspaper reported.
Pictures showed double-decker regional carriages stuck between tree branches and had rolled down a hill.
People can also be seen being carried away on stretchers.
Police said a major emergency service operation was underway and the railway line was completely closed.
