Toyota Yes once again teasing the hot upcoming GR Corolla hatchback on Instagram. This time, the trailer shows the camouflage prototype little more clearly. It also confirmed that it will have all-wheel drive as its GR Yaris cousin.
The prototype is placed in the shadow of a stack of shipping containers. It’s actually in a relatively plain view, although the low resolution of the image makes it hard to discern any details. It has a very large bottom grille which makes it look aggressive and should provide good cooling.
In particular, the camouflage layer has the “GR Four” logo. This is the name of the four-wheel drive system used on the GR Yarisand is a clear sign that Corolla will receive the same device. This is interesting, because four-wheel drive is one of the highlights of the Yaris. It has an adjustable center differential that divides torque front and rear. In the Yaris, it’s also available with a front and rear limited-slip differential. Hopefully this option will overtake Corolla. The Yaris is also only available with the manual. If the Corolla uses the same controller, we bet it will also have an instruction manual.
We also noticed that one of the shipping containers also had “GR Four” printed, along with “G16” for the engine and “NA”, which could indicate North America. But that’s all we can detect. We hope to see the GR Corolla next year and it rumored to make almost 300 hp.
