Next-generation Toyota Alphard and Vellfire will be launched in June, according to Japanese reports car and driver which includes leaked images of both MPVs allegedly taken from official promotional materials.
Based on the images, the new Alphard will continue to come with a large front grille, albeit more upright than before. before. The grille has also been redesigned to feature chrome dashed lines, which blend harmoniously with the daytime running lights located just below the headlights. Meanwhile, the lower corners of the bumper have J-shaped sections for the fog lights, and it looks like the A-pillars have been modified to allow for larger front windows.
As for the Vellfire, the front grille is made up of horizontal slats without decorative chrome details, while the daytime running lights have a simpler design compared to the Alphard’s pixelated look. The Vellfire’s front bumper also has a sportier look with large faux air intakes (which also house the fog lights) in the corners, joined by a chrome trim.
The general appearance of both MPVs is similar to their sister model, a brand new model Lexus LM, launched in early April but the taillight design looks different. Referring to footage from a product training session, the new Alphard will have wide taillights that don’t curve downward like on the super-luxury LM.
The Alphard’s interior has also been significantly upgraded including a large central touchscreen infotainment system, a touchscreen for the rear passengers and even a split-glass panoramic sunroof. Like the LM, the new Alphard and Vellfire will transition to the GA-K version of Toyota’s New Global Architecture.
Therefore, expect powertrain options to mirror the LM, available with hybrid and turbocharged options. If these reports are to be believed, it won’t be long before we see the full Alphard and the new Vellfire.
