Tomorrow’s Children: The Phoenix Version Will Return in 2022
Q Game announced that The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition will release in 2022 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The game is an updated re-release of the original Tomorrow’s Children, with improvements for PS5. Notable additions include new islands, features and items, as well as rebalanced gameplay. Unlike the original’s free-to-play model, The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition would be a premium title.
Kyoto-based developer Q Games released Tomorrow’s Children in partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment in 2016. This free PS4 title puts players in the role of building a town in the Void, with the help of other players online. Less than a year after its release, Sony announced it would turn off the game’s server in 2017. This makes it impossible for players to continue playing the game after shutting down.

However, at the end of 2021, Q Games announced that they had signed an agreement with Sony and acquired Tomorrow’s Children IP. Q Games founder and director Dylan Cuthbert announced that the team will begin developing the game for the PS5, with new features already planned. Some of the key changes include the removal of microtransactions and “reverting the game back to its intended design.” Furthermore, multiplayer will be peer-to-peer to ensure the game is playable indefinitely.
