Tom Brady Could Be Penalized By NFL For Another Tablet Throw: ‘I Won’t Throw Another Surface’
During the Buccaneers’ 9-0 loss to the Saints in Week 15, Tom Brady showed his frustration on a Microsoft Surface tablet in the fourth quarter by smashing it on a nearby bench.
Brady had just launched an interception, so his frustration was running high at this point. The loss also resulted in Brady’s first closure in 15 seasons. At the time, it was considered a somewhat humorous moment when fans compared him to a kid who couldn’t connect to Wi-Fi. Well, the NFL doesn’t find it funny.

Brady spoke on “Let’s Go!” podcast with Jim Gray on Monday and said the NFL called him after the tablet toss a week ago.
“I got a warning from the NFL,” Brady said, per ESPN. “I can’t throw another Surface or I’ll be fined. Imagine that. Imagine that.”
The NFL hasn’t announced any official plans to penalize Brady, so it’s very likely Brady got away with this initial tablet toss. But, like Brady said, he can’t do it again or the NFL might fine him. Brady says he’s learned his lesson.
“I wouldn’t throw another Surface,” Brady said. “Although I think it’s pretty good marketing for Surface at the end of the day. I think it’s worked out pretty well for them.”
As a joke, Saints Safety CJ Gardner-Johnson tweeted about Microsoft after the game in a deleted tweet: “Hey @Microsoft @surface can you guys send me a new Surface tablet? I need it gave it to a friend who broke his. Thank you and Merry Christmas.”
