There are thousands of web hosting providers out there. A company, Newfold (formerly known as Endurance International Corporation), sells web hosting under nearly 100 different brands. In many ways, standard web hosting prices are just as good as it gets. Nearly all of these web hosting providers offer shared hosting, VPS hosting, and dedicated hosting. Some offer the ability to resell their services. Many offer free SSL certificates.
Caveat: Nearly all of the hosting providers in this category entice customers with very low entry fees. But there are usually two important issues in that charge. First, the fee quoted is usually a monthly fee, but hosting will charge by year (or even years). So even though you may be lured in by, say, a $3 per month fee, you may find yourself facing a bill of $144, because you’ve been asked to pay up front for four year for a discount. Second, when renewing, most hosting providers increase the starting fee. So even though you signed up for $3 per month, you may find yourself being asked to pay up to $10 per month just to keep the site up and running.
We’re always cautious about these types of hosting plans because switching them can be time-consuming, expensive, and difficult.
