Tiger Woods caddies as son Charlie shot career best 68 at junior championship
The President’s Cup was over the weekend, but Tiger Woods had a more important job. Woods was a hitter for his son, Charlie Woods, who hit a career-best 68 (4-under) on the final round of the Notah Begay III Youth National Championships in Howey -in-the-Hills, Florida on Sunday.
The best of Charlie’s career saw him finish fourth in the Boys’ 12-13th division, by Cameron Jourddan of Golfweek.
“Dad told me to be patient. I just played consistently,” Charlie told Golfweek.
Charlie entered the game with the score 1 day but still ended well. The 13-year-old finished the final round on Sunday with a pair of crested birds and an eagle on the par-5 14th hole. In fact, Charlie nearly hit an albatross on hole 14, but the ball just missed the cup.
“When I hit (the approach), I know it’s good,” added Charlie. “When it started to flow down, I knew it would come close, but not quite so close.”
In the December 2021 PNC Championship, Charlie played with Tiger and even showed a similar style to his legendary father. While he certainly has a long way to go, it can be seen quite clearly that the sport is ingrained in his blood.
