Tiananmen Square memorial statue removed in Hong Kong
A famous statue at the University of Hong Kong marking the Tiananmen Square massacre was removed late Wednesday.
The Pillar of Shame statue displays corpses piled up in memory of pro-democracy protesters killed by the Chinese government in 1989.
It is one of the few remaining public memorials in Hong Kong to commemorate the incident, which is a very sensitive subject in China.
Its removal comes as Beijing increasingly suppresses political dissent in Hong Kong.
